The Language Institute at UPC seeks to welcome strangers in our midst. The LI has been serving refugees and immigrants in our area since 1982. Small, personalized ESL classes and home tutoring are the context of caring relationships between our Christian volunteer tutors and teachers and thier vulnerable students hoping to adapt well to our culture. Recently we have also been welcoming to our classes the spouses of international scholars attending the University of Washington (located just blocks from the church).
We have five levels of classes that meet two mornings a week, as well as one evening class that meets for advanced conversation practice. In addition, we have off-site classes targeting specific groups of immigrants, namely Hispanics.
If you have questions, please feel free to email Breanne Berg at breanneb@upc.org.
